The Content Creator Tools I use for My Blog and Social Media

If you’ve ever wondered what goes into creating content for a blog or social media, let me share a little behind the scenes look at my process and what I have learned on all these years.

As a content creator, having the right tools makes all the difference. Whether it’s snapping photos, editing videos, or staying organized, these tools help me create high-quality content while keeping things fun and stress free.

Here are my must-have tools for content creation:

1. My Smartphones

I use two smartphones for content creation: the Samsung S22 and the iPhone 13. Both are amazing for capturing photos and videos, and they complement each other perfectly. The Samsung S22’s camera excels in vibrant, detailed shots, while the iPhone 13’s camera is great for consistent, high-quality video. I love how versatile these phones are for on-the-go content creation.

2. My Cameras

I rely on two cameras for different types of social media content creation:

  • Canon G7X: This is my go-to vlogging camera, and I always carry it in my bag. It’s compact, lightweight, and perfect for capturing moments on the fly.
  • Canon M50: I use this camera for my YouTube videos. It’s reliable, easy to use, and delivers excellent video quality. This camera is a bit bulky so therefore I keep at home for studio filming only.

To ensure clean, professional sound, I attach a Rode microphone on top of my Canon M50. This makes a huge difference in audio quality for my Youtube videos.

3. Tripods

Tripods are essential for steady shots, and I use several ones depending on the situation or type of content I am creating:

  • Geekoto AT 24 Pro: A sturdy and reliable tripod for more demanding shoots.
  • Toneof 60″ Tripod: This lightweight tripod is perfect for travel and comes with a remote control, making it easy to take my own photos.
  • Manfrotto Pixi Mini Tripod: I use this compact tripod as a stand for lights or for traveling when I need a table setup. It’s small, versatile, and super handy.

4. Lighting Equipment

Good lighting is everything! Here’s what I use:

  • GVM Professional Lights: These are fixed in my filming room, which doubles as my office and changing room. They provide consistent, professional-quality lighting.
  • Newona 60 LED Light: This small, portable light attaches to my phone and fits perfectly in my bag for on-the-go shoots.
  • Neewer LED Camera Light: I take this with me when traveling. It’s compatible with my Canon M50 and perfect for maintaining great lighting wherever I go.

  • Canva: To design Instagram stories, Pinterest pins, and blog graphics. It’s super beginner-friendly, and the templates make everything look professional.

6. My Laptop

For writing blog posts, editing long-form videos, and managing my website, my laptop is essential. I use a Dell XPS 15, which is fast, reliable, and handles all my creative tasks with ease.

7. Props and Backdrops

I like to keep my props and backdrops simple and minimalistic. Here’s what I use:

  • Backdrop Fabric: I bought a white fabric backdrop from Amazon, which I stick to my wall with a double sided adhesive tape for clean, professional backgrounds.
  • Studio Backdrop: I occasionally use a studio backdrop for creating polished and professional-looking content.
  • Seasonal Decor: To add personality to my photos, I use cute, minimal seasonal decorations like flowers or small decor pieces.

8. Planning and Organization

Staying organized is key! Instead of using digital tools like Planoly, I am old fashion but works for me so I prefer:

  • A Large Planner Calendar: I use a physical calendar where I can plan my content and I love using special markers that allow me to correct text if needed. I keep it on my desk or wall in front of me.
  • An Agenda: I keep a small agenda in my bag or car to write down quick ideas on the go. This ensures I never lose a spark of creativity while I’m out and about.

9. File Storage

Dropbox is my go-to for storing all my content and blog files. I connect it to all my devices, so I can access everything from anywhere, whether I’m working at home or on the go. It’s a reliable and secure way to keep everything organized and I also use it for my personal files. Get your Dropbox space HERE

I also use an external hard drive or large memory for storage. Its portability makes it perfect for creators on the go.

Being a content creator often means juggling various gadgets and accessories to achieve quality output efficiently. Here are some additional tools that I find incredibly helpful:

  • Canon Battery Pack: An essential backup for your Canon camera, ensuring you never run out of power during important shoots or extended filming sessions.

Final Thoughts

These tools have been game changers for my content creation journey. If you’re just starting or looking to upgrade your setup, I recommend beginning with the basics (a good phone, some lighting, and editing apps) and building from there. You don’t need to have it all at once, just find what works for you and fits your style.

Try to keep a creative mindset because the most important tool is creativity! Tools and gadgets are helpful, but it’s your ideas and passion that bring content to life. I always try to stay inspired by exploring new trends, experimenting with ideas, and, most importantly, having fun with the process.
